Jagadish Aryal

Librarian

Jagadish Aryal received his master’s degree in library and information science, and in sociology/anthropology from Tribhuvan University. He has also taken the four‑month immersion course on contemporary social issues conducted by Social Science Baha. He has played an active role in the growth of the library profession in Nepal and was instrumental in establishing Nepal’s only consortium of libraries, the Nepal Library and Information Consortium. In recognition of his contribution to the Open Access Movement in Nepal, he was awarded the Institute of Open Leadership Fellowship and he also received a grant to attend the Future of Research Communications and e-Scholarship held in Portland, USA. He is also a recipient of the IFLA WLIC 2019 Margreet Wijnstroom Grant to attend World Library and Information Congress 2019 held in Athens.

He has worked for the Nepal Disabled Association and Nepal Engineering College prior to joining Social Science Baha. He is currently the country coordinator of Electronic Information for Libraries in Nepal. He is also a part-time faculty member at Nepal Open University and volunteer faculty member at the Central Department of Library and Information Science, Tribhuvan University. He is actively involved in various library training programmes in Nepal.
