Saurav Dev Bhatta is Senior Education Specialist at the World Bank Nepal Country Office. He was a faculty member in the Urban Planning and Policy Program at the University of Illinois, Chicago, for a number of years before returning to Nepal in 2007. He has also taught at the Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk, and at Kathmandu University as a visiting associate professor. His research has focused on education, poverty and inequality, social protection, urban economics and environmental economics. His primary areas of teaching include economic development, environmental economics, research methods, and poverty. He holds a Master’s degree in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a PhD in planning from Cornell University. He was formerly the Education Director of Open Learning Exchange (OLE) Nepal, an organization implementing the One Laptop per Child program in Nepal.
