Publication of ethnographic profiles of eight settlements of the West Seti Basin
Funded by: Centre for Inclusive Growth
Project duration: 1 February 2014 to 30 April 2014
Following the submission of the final report of the ‘Exploratory Study to Inform the CIG Benefit Sharing Program’, the ethnographic profiles of the eight villages covered by the exploratory study was published. It is intended to serve as a documentary record of life in the settlements some which will be submerged during the West Seti Hydroelectric Project (WSHP). These publications are likely to remain the only written evidence of the socio-cultural landscape on the West Seti Basin. Additionally, the publications will inform any further study required in the West Seti Basin such as the socio-economic assessment or benefit-sharing package. And finally, it will make a major contribution to the scant anthropological literature on Nepal’s Far-West.
