invite you to the screening of

The Pickers
21 August 2024, Wednesday
80 mins | 3-5 PM | Martin Chautari | 27 Jeet Jung Marg, Thapathali, Kathmandu, Nepal

The Pickers is a cross-border investigation about the failing food system in Europe.

One million migrant workers harvest Europe’s fields, picking the fruit and vegetables that are sold in European supermarkets. This film explores the supply chain and uncovers a system that allows the systematic exploitation of these migrant workers, but also of agricultural businesses. It documents the precarious living and working conditions of migrants, including from Nepal, who work harvesting the fruit and vegetables in Europe’s fields.

The Pickers is directed by award-winning filmmaker Elke Sasse and has been screened at film festivals across Europe since its premiere in March 2024.

The screening will be followed by comments by Josef Neubaurer, PhD Scholar, University of Continuing Education Krems, Austria, followed by a moderated discussion with Bhrikuti Rai, who reported about the Nepal–Europe migration corridor for the documentary.

Entry is free and open to all on a first-come-first-seated basis. Queries: 4572807.
