Sudeshna Thapa is a human rights lawyer and holds an LLM in International Human Rights Law from Lund University, Sweden. Her area of interest and specialisation include international migration and labour laws. She has previously worked as research assistant to the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights and Toxics. As part of her responsibilities, she was involved in research and writing on the human rights implications of exposure to toxic and hazardous substances on particular groups, such as workers and indigenous communities. She is currently involved in research projects on a range of issues pertaining to Nepali labour migrants. She is passionate about the rights of workers and her research interests include labour, mobility, and minority rights. She writes regularly on the rights of migrant workers and other socio-legal issues in The Kathmandu Post.
