Manju Gurung holds master’s in Sociology from Tribhuvan University, and bachelor’s in Education from Maiya Devi Girls College, Bharatpur, Chitwan. She has conducted numerous research studies in the area of women and migration. She has also administered capacity-building training workshops for data enumerators to enable them to conduct quantitative surveys.
Manju has extensive experience in social science research. She previously worked as field researcher for the Centre for Economic Development and Administration, Tribhuvan University, as supervisor for the Central Bureau of Statistics during the 2011 National Census, as social mobiliser for Garibi Niwaran Bachat Tatha Rin Sahakari Sanstha, Chitwan, and as an ethnographic researcher in various projects. Her publications include Village Profile of Talara (2014), and Migration and Resilience: Experiences from Nepal’s 2015 Earthquake (2015). Her main research interests are qualitative research methods and practice, and social and developmental issues.
