Understanding Social Inclusion and Exclusion: Theories, Methodologies, and Data
Understanding Social Inclusion and Exclusion: Theories, Methodologies, and Data
2 June, 2006
The main objective of the workshop was to review and discuss the concept of social inclusion and exclusion, the major theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of this topic, internationally as well as in Nepal, the insights and understanding that have been gained from previous studies, the gaps in the studies (especially for Nepal), and to identify themes/issues for future research. It was hoped that the papers presented and the ensuing discussions helped Nepali researchers and donor agencies achieve a broader and more sophisticated understanding of the concepts and that the researchers would be able to formulate research proposals that are both theoretically and methodologically more rigorous and better suited to the Nepali context.
