Nyima Dorjee Bhotia

Research Associate

Nyima Dorjee (Bhotia) holds a Master’s degree in anthropology from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, and a Bachelor’s degree in history from University of Delhi. He has worked as a teaching assistant and program coordinator for a study abroad programme based in Kathmandu. He was also associated with the five-year research project, Remoteness & Connectivity: Highland Asia in the World, as a research associate. His research interests include migration, borderland citizens, road and infrastructure, and trans-Himalayan trade across the Nepal Himalaya. At Social Science Baha, he is involved in a research project ‘Sajag-Nepal: Planning and Preparedness for the Mountain Hazard and Risk Chain in Nepal’ as a Research Associate. His photo essays On the Road: Commodities, Trade, and Transportation in Northwest Nepal and On the Road in Rasuwa have appeared in Himalaya, the Journal of the Association for Nepal and Himalayan Studies.
